ATLANTA – State Representative Debra Bazemore (D-South Fulton) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on the Impact of Online Platforms on Georgia Youth.
“I am honored to serve on the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on the Impact of Online Platforms on Georgia Youth,” said Rep. Bazemore. “As technology continues to evolve and shape how young people learn, it is critical that we take a closer look at both its benefits and its risks. I look forward to working with my legislative colleagues and hearing directly from families, educators and experts across Georgia as we explore ways to strengthen protections for online consumption and ensure safe and age-appropriate online environments for our youth.”
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on the Impact of Online Platforms on Georgia Youth will evaluate the effects of online platforms on minors to strengthen safety protections, address mental health concerns and promote age-appropriate access to online content.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones (R-Milton), State Representatives Rob Clifton (R-Evans), Johnny Chastain (R-Blue Ridge), Todd Jones (R-South Forsyth), Brad Thomas (R-Holly Springs), Anne Allen Westbrook (D-Savannah), Lydia Glaize (D-Fairburn), Beth Camp (R-Concord), Tangie Herring (D-Macon) and Shawn Conroy, Consumer Protection Division, Georgia Attorney General’s Office.
