Rep. David Huddleston Appointed by Speaker Jon Burns to Joint Study Committee on Generational Sustainability of Family Farms

ATLANTA – State Representative David Huddleston (R-Roopville) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the Joint Study Committee on Generational Sustainability of Family Farms.

“I am honored and grateful to Speaker Burns for appointing me to the Joint Study Committee on Generational Sustainability of Family Farms,” said Rep. Huddleston. “Family farms are the backbone of Georgia’s economy, heritage and rural communities. It is critically important that we work together to protect and strengthen these operations, not only for today’s farmers, but for the next generation who will carry on this proud tradition. I look forward to working with my colleagues and stakeholders across Georgia to ensure family farms remain sustainable, profitable and viable for generations to come.”

Created by Senate Resolution 800, the Joint Study Committee on the Generational Sustainability of Family Farms will evaluate the challenges facing family farms. The study committee will also explore policies and investments that the General Assembly can pursue to support existing markets, develop new and innovative domestic markets, decrease the cost of inputs, adequately prepare the next generation of farmers and address systemic challenges contributing to the declining farm economy.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Angie O’Steen (R-Ambrose), Jaclyn Ford (R-Tifton) and Robert Dickey (R-Musella).
