Rep. Lisa Campbell, Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance to Hold Press Conference in Recognition of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day in Georgia

ATLANTA – State Representative Lisa Campbell (D-Kennesaw), in partnership with the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance (GOCA), will hold a press conference to highlight Georgia Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day in Georgia on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. in room 216 of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, Ga.

During the press conference, GOCA will share information, stories of survivorship and discuss expanding resources to find a cure for ovarian cancer.

The press conference will also highlight the upcoming 2026 GOCA Teal Trot 5K, taking place Saturday, September 19, 2026. The event will bring together the ovarian cancer community, runners, walkers and supporters from across the state to celebrate resilience, honor those impacted by ovarian cancer and remember loved ones.

Guest speakers at the press conference will include Kimberly Emory, Interim Executive Director of GOCA; the GOCA Board of Directors, including Ray Muhammad, Interim Board President; Carolyn Hughes, Interim Board Vice-President; Sheena Virji, Interim Board Secretary; Chasity Mathis, ovarian cancer survivor and Treasurer; LaTanya Ingram, survivor and Board Member; Kianta Key, Board Member; Savannah Ray-Loret, Board Member; Sharon Sigler, survivor and Board Member; Chief AFRD Rod Smith, Board Member; and Tasha Walker, Board Member. Additional guest speakers will include ovarian cancer doctors and healthcare providers from across the state, as well as ovarian cancer survivors and Georgia families.

During the 2026 legislative session, Rep. Campbell introduced House Resolution 1904 to designate September 16, 2026, as Georgia Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day.
