ATLANTA – State Representative Robert Flournoy (D-Hampton) was recently accepted into the 2026 class of the Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills (CALS), a leadership development program offered by the Southern Office of The Council of State Governments (CSG) for Southern state government officials. As part of the program, Rep. Flournoy will participate in a five-day session in Alabama from October 4 – 8, 2026, focused on communication, conflict resolution, consensus building and critical decision-making.
“I am thankful for Speaker Burns’ recommendation to participate in this important program, where public officials from across the South will come together to learn from each other and build on our leadership skills,” said Rep. Flournoy. “I look forward to the opportunity to learn principles that I can use to benefit the citizens of Georgia and meet new colleagues from across our Southern states.”
CALS is organized by CSG’s Southern Office, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1947 to support state officials across its 15 member states and promote intergovernmental cooperation. The program is open to current elected and appointed officials serving in the legislative, judicial and executive branches of state government. CALS aims to advance CSG South’s mission of promoting excellence in state government by providing a nonpartisan forum for officials who may not otherwise have opportunities to connect, exchange ideas and learn from one another.
