ATLANTA – State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) and Uplifting Our Girls (UOG), in partnership with East Point Councilwoman LaTonya Martin Rogers, will host their “Uplift & Flow” workshop event on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the East Point City Annex.
“Too many girls enter puberty without the information, products or supportive conversations they need to understand what is happening to their bodies,” said Rep. Schofield, founder and CEO of UOG. “Uplift & Flow is about changing that experience. We want every girl to leave knowing that her body is nothing to be ashamed of, her questions deserve answers, and she has a community standing beside her.”
The event is designed for girls ages 9 to 17 and their parents or caregivers and seeks to create a safe, supportive and empowering environment where girls can learn about the physical and emotional changes that accompany puberty and adolescence.
The workshop will address bra education and proper sizing, breast development, menstrual health and hygiene, puberty, body confidence and self-esteem. Girls will also have opportunities to ask questions, engage with trusted professionals and receive essential products and resources.
UOG is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls ages 9 to 17 with the knowledge, confidence, resources and support needed to navigate puberty and adolescence. UOG addresses challenges including period poverty, access to properly fitting bras, menstrual dignity, hygiene, breast development, body literacy and self-confidence.
Through workshops, education, family engagement, community partnerships and youth leadership opportunities, UOG seeks to help girls build healthy foundations while equipping parents and caregivers to continue important conversations at home.
