ATLANTA – State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) recently hosted the Youth Leadership Coweta group on April 16, 2014, as the students toured their state capitol. The Central Education Center students (CEC), selected from their base high schools of East Coweta, Newnan, and Northgate, visited the state capitol to learn first- hand about their state government.
“I enjoyed meeting with Nora Ann Wood, guidance counselor of CEC, and the Youth Leadership Coweta group,” said Rep. Smith. “After discussing bills and the legislative session, we toured the State Capitol and the Capitol Museum. The two headed cow and the two headed snake continue to be among the main attractions of the museum. It was a pleasure to be able to host such an outstanding group of students at the Capitol.”
While at the Capitol, the students had the opportunity to learn about the legislative process, ask Rep. Smith questions, and discuss various bills that were of interest to them. The students were then able to take photos, visit both the House and Senate chambers, and tour the Capitol and Capitol Museum.
Representative Lynn Smith represents the citizens of District 70, which includes portions of Carroll and Coweta counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 1996, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Natural Resources & Environment Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, and Rules committees.
