Rep. Marcus Wiedower Named Chair of House Working Group on Rising Costs of Construction Materials

ATLANTA – State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) today was appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as the chairman of the House Working Group on Rising Costs of Construction Materials. Speaker Ralston announced the new working group today, Thursday, May 20.

“It’s no secret that the rising cost of construction materials is having a tangible and negative impact on Georgia’s small businesses and families,” said Rep. Wiedower. “I am eager to work with my fellow colleagues to find ways that our legislature can help alleviate this burden on hardworking Georgians.”

The House Working Group on Rising Costs of Construction Materials will study the increasing costs associated with construction across the state, as well as recommend legislative solutions that may alleviate future building costs. The working group is authorized for the entirety of the 2021-2022 legislative term.

Representative Marcus Wiedower represents the citizens of District 119, which includes portions of Clarke and Oconee counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee and as Secretary of the Transportation Committee. He also serves on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and the Higher Education, Motor Vehicles, Natural Resources & Environment and Ways & Means committees.
