Augusta Legislative Delegation Supports Proposed Cyber Innovation and Training Center

ATLANTA – State Representative Henry “Wayne” Howard (D-Augusta) and the Augusta Legislative Delegation today issued the following statement in response to Governor Nathan Deal’s proposal to build the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center in Augusta:

“The Augusta Legislative Delegation fully supports Governor Nathan Deal’s efforts to build the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center. The Governor has shown tremendous leadership and vision in this effort. His leadership, along with the efforts of other community partners, has made Georgia the epicenter for cyber security.

“As we move forward to review and adopt the Amended Fiscal Year 2017 budget, the Augusta Delegation will work diligently with state and local leadership and the full House and Senate to support the governor’s vision for the state.

“The citizens of Augusta should be proud that our community was selected for this transformational opportunity. Now is the time for all members of the community to work together as Augusta plays a critical role in our nation’s cyber security.

“While we cannot predict the future, we can say, with certainty, that with the creation of the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center and the Army‘s Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Gordon, the future in Augusta looks bright.”

Representative Henry “Wayne” Howard represents the citizens of District 124, which includes portions of Richmond County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2006, and currently serves on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources and the Education, Health & Human Services, Juvenile Justice, and Motor Vehicles committees.
