House Passes Fiscal Year 2023 State Budget

New Investments in Public Safety & Mental Health Total More Than $65 Million

ATLANTA – Today, Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) announced that the Georgia House of Representatives passed House Bill 911, the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY 2023) State Budget. The budget totals $30.2 billion, an increase of $2.9 billion or 10.8 percent over the original FY 2022 budget, demonstrating the state’s strong economic growth as the COVID-19 pandemic wanes.

Rep. Mandisha A. Thomas’ Solar Power Awareness Measure Incorporated into Bill Approved by House Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Mandisha A. Thomas (D-South Fulton) today announced that portions of House Bill 966, or the Solar Consumer Awareness Act, was recently incorporated into legislation that was approved by the House Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee on March 9, 2022. Sponsored by State Rep. Joseph Gullett (R-Dallas), HB 1494 now includes provisions from Rep. Thomas’ legislation to require the Public Service Commission to develop and publish a solar awareness presentation on its website this year. The bill is special to South Fulton because resident Kevin Grimes was instrumental in the technical composition of the legislation.
