Georgia’s First Paid Parental Leave Benefit for State Employees & Teachers Receives Final Passage in General Assembly

ATLANTA – Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) and State Representative Houston Gaines (R-Athens) announced that House Bill 146 received final passage in the General Assembly today. House Bill 146 provides three weeks of paid parental leave as a new benefit to full-time state employees and teachers. This is the Georgia’s first paid parental leave benefit for state employees and teachers.

Rep. Scott, Georgia Democratic Legislators to Host White Flag Ceremony Tomorrow for Georgians Lost to COVID-19

ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex), along with other Democratic state legislators, will host a white flag ceremony to honor 18,000 Georgians who have lost their lives to COVID-19 TOMORROW, Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Plaza (across from the State Capitol) in Atlanta.

Rep. Viola Davis Announces Inaugural Community Activist Day at the Capitol Award Recipients

ATLANTA – State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) announced today that members of Restore DeKalb, including Joel Edwards, Sandra Holmes, Willie Pringle, Debra Greenwood and Dr. Ed Williams, are the award recipients for the 2021 Community Activist Day at the Capitol. Rep. Davis recently introduced House Resolution 377 during the 2021 legislative session to establish March 29, 2021, as Community Activist Day at the Capitol to recognize these individuals.
