Governor Signs SAFE Act into Law
ATLANTA – Today, Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law House Bill 883, the SAFE Act, authored by State Representative Kevin Levitas (D-Atlanta). The bill, known as the “Sanitary Activity for Food-Processing Enterprises (SAFE) Act,” would allow for felony punishment if a food processor knowingly releases tainted food products into the public resulting in injury or death to consumers. Georgia House of Representatives Passes Legislation to Increase Safety of Golf Carts
ATLANTA — The Georgia House of Representatives yesterday passed SB 519 by a vote of 147-2. Carried in the House by state Representative Barbara Sims (R-Augusta), the legislation sets safety feature requirements for golf carts and other “electric low speed vehicles” if local governments allow operation of these vehicles after sunset. House Bill 977 puts school administrators and other school employees on a level playing field
ATLANTA — The Georgia State Senate passed House Bill 977 by a vote of 39-0 on Tuesday, April 27th. Sponsored by Representative Ed Rynders (R-Leesburg), HB 977 prevents a school system from increasing the pay of administrators when that school system has furloughed other school employees.
