Governor Signs SAFE Act into Law

ATLANTA – Today, Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law House Bill 883, the SAFE Act, authored by State Representative Kevin Levitas (D-Atlanta).  The bill, known as the “Sanitary Activity for Food-Processing Enterprises (SAFE) Act,” would allow for felony punishment if a food processor knowingly releases tainted food products into the public resulting in injury or death to consumers. Georgia House of Representatives Passes Legislation to Increase Safety of Golf Carts

ATLANTA — The Georgia House of Representatives yesterday passed SB 519 by a vote of 147-2.  Carried in the House by state Representative Barbara Sims (R-Augusta), the legislation sets safety feature requirements for golf carts and other “electric low speed vehicles” if local governments allow operation of these vehicles after sunset. ATLANTA — The Georgia State Senate passed House Bill 977 by a vote of 39-0 on Tuesday, April 27th.  Sponsored by Representative Ed Rynders (R-Leesburg), HB 977 prevents a school system from increasing the pay of administrators when that school system has furloughed other school employees.
