Rep. Lynne Riley Joins State Legislators from Across the Nation to Find ‘Solutions for the States’

ATLANTA – State Representative Lynne Riley (R- Johns Creek) recently represented the people of House District 50 at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) 38th Annual Meeting, held in New Orleans, LA, August 3-6. State legislators, policy experts, and private-sector leaders from across the country gathered to discuss the issues facing the states and our nation at this critical time.

“Governments across the nation are facing many of the same challenges we are in Georgia,” said Rep. Riley. “The ALEC conference allows us the opportunity to work together to develop policy that will better serve our constituents.”

Rep. Riley serves on ALEC’s Tax and Fiscal Policy Task Force. During the meeting, the Task Force reviewed and adopted several pieces of model legislation and resolutions that will be shared with legislators across the nation. Rep. Riley brought back a great deal of information that will help Georgia implement policies that have already proven successful in promoting a strong economy and an efficient state government in other states.

The ALEC meeting gave Rep. Riley an opportunity to hear from national leaders and renowned policy experts who are committed to common sense, free-markets, and federalism. Speakers at the meeting included Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal; Arthur Brooks, President of the American Enterprise Institute; Dr. Art Laffer, Founder and Chairman of Laffer Associates; and former Florida Governor Bob Wise, President of the Alliance for Excellent Education. Many other scholars, legislators, and business leaders also spoke at various meetings throughout the event.

ALEC is the nation’s leading nonprofit, nonpartisan organization for advancing Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, federalism, and individual liberty. ALEC works through a nonpartisan public-private partnership of America’s state legislators, members of the private sector, the federal government, and general public.

Representative Lynne Riley represents the citizens of District 50, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves on the Natural Resources & Environment, Retirement, MARTOC, and Regulated Industries.
