Chair Beth Camp’s ‘Increasing Access to Contraceptives Act’ Becomes Law

ATLANTA – State Representative Beth Camp (R-Concord), chair of the House Judiciary Juvenile Committee, applauds Governor Brian Kemp for signing her legislation, House Bill 1138, the “Increasing Access to Contraceptives Act,” into law.

“This legislation is about expanding access and giving Georgians more convenient, timely options for basic preventive care,” said Chair Camp. “By allowing appropriately trained pharmacists—working in Georgia-licensed hospitals and pharmacies—to provide contraceptive care, we are empowering patients to make informed decisions about their health. I am grateful to Governor Kemp for signing this legislation into law and to Speaker Jon Burns and my legislative colleagues for their support in advancing this important measure across the finish line.”

HB 1138 allows a pharmacist who is employed by a hospital or a pharmacy licensed in Georgia to dispense a self-administered contraceptive or administer an injectable contraceptive to a patient.
