Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Condemns Antisemitic Protest Outside of East Cobb Synagogue

ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, today issued the following statement condemning the antisemitic protest outside of Chabad of Cobb:

“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus stands with the Jewish community to denounce this act of hatred and reaffirm our commitment of the values of unity, inclusivity and religious tolerance. The offensive and discriminatory remarks made by these hateful individuals sought to cause distress among attendees and undermine the spirit of inclusiveness of this synagogue’s community. We stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters to proclaim ‘Georgia will continue to be a state that is too busy to hate.’”

Representative Carl Gilliard represents the citizens of District 162, which includes portions of Chatham County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development and the Creative Arts & Entertainment, Insurance, Interstate Cooperation, Natural Resources & Environment, Reapportionment and Redistricting, State Properties and Transportation committees.
