ATLANTA – The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC), chaired by State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), today announced its upcoming “For the People Tour” to address concerns of food deserts, health deserts and disparities in Fairburn, Georgia on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 4 p.m. at the Temple of Prayer Family Worship Cathedral in Fairburn.
“Disparities in Fairburn and South Fulton, as in many communities, disproportionately affect minority populations,” said Rep. Gilliard. “We believe that no one should suffer from the effects of food deserts, health deserts or disparities in their community. The GLBC is committed to promoting social and economic equity for all residents of Georgia, and the “For the People Tour” will be a crucial step in achieving that goal. Through this rally, we hope to raise awareness, foster collaboration and drive change that will improve the lives of Fairburn residents.”
The “For the People Tour” will be co-hosted by the following GLBC members: State Senator Donzella James (D-Atlanta), and State Representatives Roger Bruce (D-Atlanta), Mandisha Thomas (D-South Fulton), Lydia Glaize (D-Fairburn), Derrick Jackson (D-Tyrone), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Debra Bazemore (D-South Fulton), Tanya Miller (D-Atlanta) and Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta).
