Georgia Legislative Black Caucus to Host 2024 Heritage Dinner

ATLANTA – The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, chaired by State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), will host the 2024 Heritage Dinner on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 5 – 10 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park.

Founded in 1975, the GLBC is currently the largest caucus of Black state legislators in the nation. The theme of this year’s dinner is “Now is the time to redeem the soul of America,” and the event will be hosted by Dr. Maria Boynton, award winning journalist and morning news anchor for V103 and WAOK.

The caucus will honor Dr. Otis Williams of the Temptations; Keri Hilson, American actress and singer-songwriter; Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, American actor known for his role in “Welcome Back Kotter,” “Roots” and “The Jacksons: An American Dream;” Glynn Turman, actor and producer best know from “A Different World;” Jean Carn, famous singer and R&B legend; Pastor Troy, American rapper and activist; The parents of Ahmad Aubrey, Marcus Aubrey and Wanda Jones; Michael Thurmond, DeKalb County CEO; Dr. Kerwin B. Lee, Senior Pastor of Berean Christian Church; and Jason Carter, founder of the “One Music Fest.”

The event will also feature a special recognition for State Senator Valencia Seay (D-Riverdale) and State Representative Roger Bruce (D-Atlanta).
