Governor Kemp Signs Rep. Sheila Jones’ First Responders Appreciation Day Legislation

ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) today announced that Governor Brian Kemp signed House Bill 373 into law on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Sponsored by Rep. Jones, this legislation recognizes September 11 as First Responders Appreciation Day in Georgia.

“I am proud to carry this legislation that celebrates and honors Georgia’s first responders,” said Rep. Jones. “The sacrifices made by first responders exemplify the heroic and dangerous work that first responders do across our state, and it is abundantly fitting that we recognize this day in their honor.”

September 11 will now be recognized annually as First Responders Appreciation Day in Georgia. Under this bill, state agencies, educational institutions, members of the media and all Georgians are encouraged to participate in programs and activities that show appreciation to first responders.

HB 373 received final passage by the Georgia Senate on March 20, 2023.
