ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus met today and elected its key leaders. The Majority Caucus nominated House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) and House Speaker Pro-Tempore Jan Jones (R-Milton) as the caucus nominees for their current positions.
The Majority Caucus re-elected the following positions:
- State Rep. Jon Burns (R-Newington), House Majority Leader
- State Rep. Matt Hatchett (R-Dublin), House Majority Caucus Chairman
- State Rep. Sam Teasley (R-Marietta), House Majority Caucus Vice-Chairman
- State Rep. Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe), House Majority Caucus Secretary and Treasurer
The Majority Caucus also elected State Rep. Christian Coomer (R-Cartersville) as the new House Majority Whip.
Representative David Ralston represents the citizens of District 7, which includes Fannin and Gilmer Counties, as well as portions of Dawson County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2002, and currently serves as the House Speaker.
Representative Jan Jones represents the citizens of District 47, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2002, and currently serves as the Speaker Pro-Tempore. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the Education, Ethics, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Regulated Industries, and Rules committees.
Representative Jon Burns represents the citizens of District 159, which includes portions of Bulloch, Effingham, and Screven counties. He was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2006 and is currently serves as the Majority Leader in the Georgia House of Representatives. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Economic Development & Tourism, Ethics, Games, Fish, & Parks, Rules, and Transportation committees.
Representative Christian Coomer represents the citizens of District 14, which includes portions of Bartow and Floyd counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as Chairman of the Transportation Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development and the Banks & Banking, Judiciary Non-Civil, Retirement, and Juvenile Justice committees.
Representative Matt Hatchett represents the citizens of District 150, which includes portions of Johnson, Laurens, and Treutlen counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the Chairman of the House Republican Caucus. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and the Economic Development & Tourism, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Ethics, Health & Human Services, and Rules committees.
Representative Sam Teasley represents the citizens of District 37, which includes portions of Cobb County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the House Caucus Vice Chairman. He also serves on the Banks & Banking, Education, Ethics, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, and Insurance committees.
Representative Bruce Williamson represents the citizens of District 115, which includes portions of Walton County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the House Republican Caucus and on the Banks & Banking, Energy, Utilities, & Telecommunications, Governmental Affairs, Insurance, and Ways & Means committees.
