House Rural Development Council to Hold Meetings in Blue Ridge

ATLANTA – The House Rural Development Council, co-chaired by Education Chairman Rick Jasperse (R-Jasper) and Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government Chairman Sam Watson (R-Moultrie), will hold a series of meetings from Tuesday, December 7, – Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Hampton Inn (conference room) in Blue Ridge.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 7, 2021, from 1 p.m. – 5:20 p.m.;
  • Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 8 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.;
  • Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.

This series of meetings will focus on current barriers and economic development in rural Georgia. The first two days will focus on issues and topics of interest for rural communities, such as supporting Georgia’s agricultural industries and emerging issues for rural health care. On the final day, the council will present its annual report and legislative recommendations for the 2022 legislative session.

During the 2021 legislative session, Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) introduced House Resolution 185 to reauthorize the House Rural Development Council through the 2022 calendar year. For more information on the HRDC, please click here.
