ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) announced today the appointment of Mr. Tim Thoms to the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board.  A brief biography is below:

Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board

Tim Thoms, Fayetteville –Thoms, a registered landscape architect in the state of Georgia, is the President and founder of Thoms Tree and Plants, Inc., a plant and material consulting and brokerage firm in Fayetteville.  He has served on the Fayette County Planning Commission since 2006 and is the 2010 commission chairman. Thoms also chairs the Flint Basin Advisory Council for the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District.  He has served in various leadership roles in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Stakeholders, Metro Atlanta Landscape and Turf Association, Georgia ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects), Georgia Water Wise Council, the UGA School of Environmental Design Alumni Association, the Georgia Urban Forest Council and as a member of the Farm Bureau in both Fayette and Spalding counties.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia’s School of Environmental Design.  He and his wife, Betsy, have two children.
