House Speaker David Ralston Announces Appointments to the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council

ATLANTA— House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced appointments to the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council. The appointments were made pursuant to O.C.G.A. §25-4-3.

Lanier Swafford, Dawsonville – Swafford serves as the Fire Chief, EMS Director, and Deputy Director of Emergency Management for Dawson County Emergency Services. He is also the Deputy Coroner for Dawson County. Swafford received his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic from Lanier Technical College. He also received his A.S. in Emergency Management and Fire Science from Lanier Technical College. Swafford received the 2009 Master Emergency Manager Award from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. He is also currently serving as the 1st Vice President of the Georgia State Firefighter’s Association.

Wayne Hadden, Cairo—Hadden has served as the Grady County Volunteer Fire Chief and Coordinator for the past 28 years. He oversees ten volunteer stations and 200 volunteer firefighters of which 65 are First Responders. For the past 18 years, he has served with the Georgia Forestry Commission Rural Fire Defense Program Advisory Board. He served 10 years on the Georgia State Firefighters Association Board and is also a past president of that organization. He is also a current member of the Fire Chiefs Association.
