House Speaker David Ralston Announces Appointments to the Georgia Halls of Fame Authority Overview Committee

ATLANTA— House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced the appointment of the following members of the Georgia House of Representatives to the Georgia Halls of Fame Authority Overview Committee:

  • Representative Allen Peake, vice-chairman (R-Macon)
  • Representative Keith Heard (D-Athens)
  • Representative Nikki Randall (D-Macon)
  • Representative Bubber Epps (R-Dry Branch)
  • Representative Sean Jerguson (R-Holly Springs)

The Georgia Halls of Fame Authority Overview Committee is a joint committee of state representatives and state senators established under O.C.G.A. 12-3-550. The joint committee is charged with reviewing the operations of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Authority and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Authority. It also periodically reviews and evaluates each authority to ensure its statutory duties and functions are accomplished successfully and in accordance with Georgia law.

The joint committee is composed of five members of the House of Representatives and five members of the Senate. The Speaker of the House makes appointments for the House and the Lieutenant Governor makes appointments for the Senate. The members of the committee serve two-year terms concurrent with their terms as members of the General Assembly. Additionally, the Lieutenant Governor appoints a chairman from the membership of the committee, and the Speaker of the House appoints the vice-chairman of the committee from the membership of the committee. Both the chairman and vice-chairman of the committee serve two-year terms concurrent with their terms as members of the General Assembly.
