House Speaker David Ralston Announces Appointments to the Joint Committee on Water Supply

ATLANTA— House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced the appointment of the following members to the Joint Committee on Water Supply pursuant to Senate Resolution 15:

  • Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan)
  • Representative Bob Hanner (R-Parrott)
  • Representative Rick Austin (R-Demorest)
  • Representative Randy Nix (R-Lagrange)
  • Representative Mark Hamilton (R-Cumming)

The Joint Committee on Water Supply is charged with examining and analyzing the current status of Georgia’s reservoir system. The members will continue conducting a comprehensive analysis for the state’s additional strategic water supply needs, including the identification of financing options for water reservoirs and other opportunities for water supply enhancement.

The ten-member Joint Committee on Water Supply was originally created by Senate Bill 370, which was signed into law June 1, 2010 by Governor Sonny Perdue. Senate Resolution 15 reconstitutes the joint committee so it can continue its work. The remaining five members are appointed by Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.
