House Study Committee on Cannabis Waste Disposal and Recycling to Hold Series of Meetings

ATLANTA – The House Study Committee on Cannabis Waste Disposal and Recycling, chaired by State Representative Mesha Mainor (D-Atlanta), will hold a series of meetings from TOMORROW, Thursday, January 5 – Friday, January 6, 2023, in room 606 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

  • TOMORROW, Thursday, January 5, 2023, beginning at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.;
  • Friday, January 6, 2023, beginning at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The House Study Committee on Cannabis Waste Disposal and Recycling will examine ways to properly dispose, capture and treat the waste created from the manufacturing of legal cannabis products, such as hemp and medical marijuana, in an effort to allow and regulate how private companies may repurpose such waste. The study committee will consider the research from other states on how to repurpose waste from cannabis products for renewable energy, manufacturing and composting. This study committee was created during the 2022 legislative session by House Resolution 798, which may be found here.
