House Study Committee on Fishing Access to Freshwater Resources to Hold Second Meeting in Clarkesville

ATLANTA – The House Study Committee on Fishing Access to Freshwater Resources, chaired by House Majority Caucus Whip James Burchett (R-Waycross), will hold its next meeting on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 9 a.m. at Habersham EMC in Clarkesville, Georgia.

Created by House Resolution 519, this study committee will examine the public’s right to fish in Georgia’s freshwater resources and examine any inconsistencies or conflicts in the law between the public’s right to fish and private property rights.

“I look forward to our October 12th hearing, hosted in Clarkesville by Representative Victor Anderson and the Habersham EMC,” said Whip Burchett. “I know how important the Soquee River is to its north Georgia community. I welcome the participation of river users, property owners and all those with an interest in protecting our freshwater resources for future generations.”

“I am proud to host our study committee in Habersham County and District 10,” said State Representative Victor Anderson (R- Cornelia). “The beauty of our North Georgia mountains and streams sets the perfect backdrop for the citizens of Northeast Georgia to participate and have input in the legislative process.”
