House Study Committee on Reforming Real Property Taxation Releases Final Report

ATLANTA – Before the end of 2018, the House Study Committee on Reforming Real Property Taxation, chaired by Representative Andy Welch (R-Locust Grove), released its final report.

“The study committee has worked extremely hard studying and listening to the public and stakeholders regarding the strengths and shortcomings of the real property appraisal and appeal process. In addition, the committee considered the systems used by other states. The final committee report provides a concise summary of the points raised during the five days of hearings and can be viewed by the public online,” said Rep. Welch.

The House Study Commission on Reforming Real Property Taxation, established by House Resolution 1317, was created to examine a holistic revision to state property taxation in Georgia.
