Members of Georgia Legislative AAPI Caucus Issue Statement on Antisemitic Flyers Found in Dunwoody, Sandy Springs

ATLANTA – House Minority Whip Sam Park (D-Lawrenceville), State Representatives Michelle Au (D-Johns Creek), Saira Draper (D-Atlanta), Soo Hong (R-Lawrenceville), Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula), Ruwa Romman (D-Duluth), Long Tran (D-Dunwoody), State Senators Nabilah Islam (D-Lawrenceville) and Sheikh Rahman (D-Lawrenceville) today issued the following statement regarding antisemitic flyers found in Dunwoody and Sandy Springs on Sunday, February 5:

“This past weekend, members of the Dunwoody and Sandy Springs communities were the recipients of hateful, discriminatory messaging targeting our Jewish friends and neighbors.

“The Georgia Legislative Asian American Pacific Islander Caucus strongly condemns any act of hate and violence targeted towards any minority group. Further, the rising scourge of antisemitism in this country is abhorrent and demands our awareness and attention.

“We stand with our Jewish community and pledge to work with them in our continued fight against intolerance.”

Representative Sam Park represents the citizens of District 107, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as the House Minority Caucus Whip. He also serves on the Ethics, Industry and Labor, Intragovernmental Coordination, Small Business Development, Technology and Infrastructure Innovation and Higher Education committees and is an Ex-Officio member of the Rules Committee.

Representative Saira Draper represents the citizens of District 90, which includes portions of DeKalb County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Code Revision and Juvenile Justice committees.

Representative Soo Hong represents the citizens of District 103, which includes portions of Gwinnett and Hall counties. She was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as one of the Governor’s Floor Leaders and Vice Chairman of the Reapportionment & Redistricting Committee. She also serves on the Judiciary and Judiciary Non-Civil committees.

Representative Farooq Mughal represents the citizens of District 105, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.

Representative Ruwa Romman represents the citizens of District 97, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Information and Audits and Interstate Cooperation committees.

Representative Long Tran represents the citizens of District 80, which includes portions of DeKalb County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Code Revision, Creative Arts & Entertainment and Technology and Infrastructure Innovation committees.
