Minority Leader James Beverly Issues Statement on Passing of Rep. Henry “Wayne” Howard

ATLANTA – House Minority Leader James Beverly (D-Macon) today issued the following statement regarding the recent passing of State Representative Henry “Wayne” Howard (D-Augusta):

“Rep. Howard was my dear brother and friend.  He was always in my corner. With his kindness and generosity, he always had my back. He was always quick to encourage, counsel and love. Not just for me, but for our entire House family. I witnessed my friend use his circumstances to change the world. He asked the question, ‘How do I use my current conditions to make the conditions of others even better?’ Rep. Howard used his life circumstances to change the world.”

            Rep. Howard passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022. Rep. Howard served the citizens of House District 124, which includes portions of Richmond County. He was elected to the Georgia House in 2006 and served on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources and the Education, Health & Human Services, Juvenile Justice and Motor Vehicles committees.

Representative James Beverly represents the citizens of District 143, which includes portions of Bibb County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 and currently serves as House Minority Leader. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and on the Ethics, Health & Human Services, Retirement, Rules, Small Business Development and Special Rules committees.
