Meets with Government Officials to Discuss Flood Recovery

ATLANTA – State Representative Alisha Thomas Morgan (D-Austell) continued her efforts to assist with the north Georgia flood recovery last week by traveling to Washington, DC to meet with representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Department of Homeland Security, and senior congressional representatives to discuss the severe flooding that ravaged the Austell area and other parts of North Georgia. REP. LEVITAS TO FILE BILL TO BOLSTER FOOD SAFETY IN GEORGIA

ATLANTA – State Representative Kevin Levitas (D- Atlanta) will pre-file legislation next week to put more teeth into Georgia’s Food Safety laws for the protection of consumers. Rep. Levitas co-chairs the House Subcommittee on Consumer Protection Investigation and Oversight and said that hours of Subcommittee testimony from a number of witnesses has convinced him of the need for the bill. Ron Stephens Named to Board of Governors for the Mercer School of Medicine in Savannah

ATLANTA— Mercer University President William D. Underwood named state Representative Ron Stephens (R- Savannah) to the Board of Governors for the Mercer School of Medicine in Savannah. As member of the Board of Governors, Representative Stephens will provide counsel to the President of Mercer University on the direction and character of Mercer’s Savannah Medical School. He will also help recruit students, assist in planning campaigns of support, and offer advice on important aspects of the operation and governance of the school.
