Rep. Pruett Appointed to Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue has appointed state Representative Jimmy Pruett (R-Eastman) to the Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee. This subcommittee is responsible for approving changes in agency funding after the General Assembly has adjourned for the year. The subcommittee also advises the Governor on budget changes.

“I am honored Governor Perdue appointed me to the Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee,” said Rep. Pruett. “During the last year we have seen our revenues fall and consequently state agencies have had to make cuts. As we continue to face budgetary challenges, I will work with the other Fiscal Affairs members and state agencies to try to find the best way to stretch our funds to make it through these trying times.”
The Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee is comprised of ten Representatives and ten Senators. Five Representatives and five Senators are appointed by the Governor. The Speaker of the House appoints the remaining five Representatives and the Lt. Governor appoints the other five Senators. The Speaker of the House and Lt. Governor alternate as chairman of the subcommittee each year.
