Rep. Mandisha A. Thomas Introduces Legislation to Legalize Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations

ATLANTA – State Representative Mandisha A. Thomas (D-South Fulton) recently introduced House Bill 287, legislation which would authorize microenterprise operations out of home kitchens in compliance with the Georgia Department of Public Health. Under HB 287, microenterprise home kitchen operations would be considered non-commercial kitchens in private homes where ready-to-eat food is handled, stored, prepared or offered for sale by the resident off the premises.

Reps. Sandra Scott, Viola Davis, Kim Schofield Introduce Legislative Package to Address Civil Forfeiture Process

ATLANTA – State Representatives Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently introduced House bills 106, 109 and 110, a legislative package which seeks to address the process for civil asset forfeiture in Georgia. The bills were first introduced during the 2022 legislative session.

Rep. Marcus Wiedower Files Legislation to Legalize Sports Betting in Georgia

ATLANTA – State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) recently filed House Bill 380, or the “Georgia Lottery Game of Sports Betting Act,” to legalize mobile sports betting. Under this legislation, revenue generated from sports betting would be directed to educational programs under the Georgia Lottery, such as the HOPE Scholarship, HOPE Grants, Georgia College Completion Grants and Pre-K education.
