House and Senate Reapportionment Committees to Hold Educational Meetings

ATLANTA – The House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee, chaired by State Representative Bonnie Rich (R-Suwanee), and the Senate Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee, chaired by State Senator John F. Kennedy (R-Macon), will hold a joint meeting on Monday, August 30, 2021, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. in room 406 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building (CLOB) in Atlanta.  Following the joint meeting, the House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee will hold a separate meeting on Monday, Aug. 30 from 1:30 – 4 p.m. in room 406 of the CLOB.             These meetings will serve as an educational day for the committee and are not public hearings for the purposes of taking public comment.

Reps. Knight, Mathiak Applaud State Election Board Decision to Refer Spalding County Election Investigation to Attorney General’s Office

ATLANTA – State Representatives David Knight (R-Griffin) and Karen Mathiak (R-Griffin), members of the Spalding County Legislative Delegation, applaud the State Election Board’s (SEB) recent decision to refer its investigation of the Spalding County Board of Elections (BOE) and its elections supervisor to the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, where it will now be eligible for further action. Reps. Knight and Mathiak have been working since December to highlight election failures that occurred in Spalding County after the November elections, including calling on Attorney General Chris Carr to investigate the official conduct of the Spalding County BOE and elections supervisor at that time.

Georgia House Democratic Caucus Urges Governor, State School Superintendent to Take Action to Reduce COVID-19 Transmission

ATLANTA – House Minority Leader James Beverly (D-Macon), State Representatives Roger Bruce (D-Atlanta), Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Shelly Hutchinson (D-Snellville), Donna McLeod (D-Lawrenceville), Rebecca Mitchell (D-Snellville), Mary Robichaux (D-Roswell) and Sandra Scott (D-Rex) urge the governor and the state school superintendent to take specific actions to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in Georgia.

Georgia Commission on E-Commerce and Freight Infrastructure Funding to Hold Meeting

ATLANTA – The Georgia Commission on E-Commerce and Freight Infrastructure Funding, co-chaired by State Representative Rick Jasperse (R-Jasper), will hold its first meeting on Monday, August 23, 2021, at 10 a.m. in room 401 of the Georgia Department of Transportation Headquarters in Atlanta.
