Rep. Al Williams Hosts Annual Legislative Prayer Convocation

ATLANTA – State Representative Al Williams (D-Midway) recently hosted the annual Eugene C. Tillman, Sr. Memorial Prayer Convocation in preparation for the 2016 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.  This year’s prayer convocation was held on Sunday, January 10, 2016.

“Under the Gold Dome, the work we are tasked with is difficult, but we are told to approach all things with prayer and petition,” said Rep. Williams. “What better way to kick-off the start of our legislative session than with a time of prayer and reflection? I would like to thank Speaker Ralston, as well as all my colleagues who attended, and may God bless our efforts these next 40 days.”

The annual prayer convocation is held the Sunday before the first day of the legislative session.  At this year’s event, House Speaker David Ralston addressed the crowd with opening remarks, prayer and a scripture reading.

Founded by Rev. E. C. Tillman, Sr. and former State Representative Dr. Ronald A. Crews, the Georgia Legislative Prayer Caucus is a non-partisan, ecumenical organization that is open to all legislators and Capitol employees.

Representative Al Williams represents the citizens of District 168, which includes portions of Liberty County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2002, and currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Economic Development & Tourism, Game, Fish, & Parks, Rules, and Transportation committees.
