ATLANTA – During the first week of the 2009 legislative session Representative Allen Peake (R – Macon) was selected, once again, to serve as Deputy Whip in the Georgia House of Representatives.
House Majority Whip Jan Jones (R-Milton) announced his re-appointment to the coveted role.
“It is an honor for me to be selected again for the deputy whip position, and I am excited about helping to move forward our conservative agenda, and addressing, with compassion and fiscal responsibility, the crucial needs of our State during these challenging economic times,” said Rep. Peake.
As one of only 10 Deputy Whips in the 180-seat House, Rep. Peake will be responsible for helping to shepherd bills through the legislative process.
This group of representatives is responsible for analyzing and tracking legislation. Because of these responsibilities, this group also serves as a resource for representatives with questions about legislation. Rep. Peake is also a Chairman of the Income Tax subcommittee on the Ways and Means Committee which will place him in a unique opportunity to provide vital legislative oversight to the caucus.
“In a short period of time Rep. Peake has demonstrated genuine and effective leadership for his district,” said Rep. Jones. “He will be an excellent voice for our caucus in communicating the details of legislation to other representatives.”
