Rep. Angela Moore to Honor Braves 2022 Rookie of the Year Michael Harris II in House Chamber Today

ATLANTA – State Representative Angela Moore (D-Stonecrest) will recognize Michael Harris II, the Atlanta Braves 2022 Rookie of the Year, with an Invitation Resolution in the House Chamber today, Tuesday, February 7, 2023. During Legislative Day 14, Mr. Harris will be joined by his mother and father as he gives remarks before the Georgia House of Representatives.

“I am abundantly proud to welcome Stockbridge’s very own to the House Chamber this week,” said Rep. Moore. “Michael has surely represented his family and community well as he plays for Georgia’s home team, and I wish him well as he begins spring training this week.”

Michael Machion Harris II is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball. He was drafted by the Braves in the third round of the 2019 MLB draft and made his MLB debut with the team in 2022. In August, the Atlanta Braves and Mr. Harris agreed to an eight-year contract extension. He has been named Rookie of the Month several times, and in November, Harris was named the 2022 National League Rookie of the Year. Harris is the seventh Atlanta player to win the award. Mr. Harris was born in DeKalb County and graduated from Stockbridge High School.

Representative Angela Moore represents the citizens of District 91, which includes portions of DeKalb, Henry and Rockdale counties. She was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2021 and currently serves on the Code Revision, Creative Arts & Entertainment and Higher Education committees.
