Rep. Barbara Sims Named Chairman of Information and Audits Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Barbara Sims (R-Augusta) as the Chairman of the Information and Audits Committee. Rep Sims will also serve as the Secretary of the Economic Development & Tourism Committee, and has been assigned as a member of the Appropriations; Health & Human Services; Rules; Science and Technology; and Transportation committees.

“It is a privilege and an honor to serve as Chairman of Information and Audits,” said Rep. Sims. “I appreciate the confidence Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments has shown in selecting me for this leadership role. I look forward to better serving the CSRA in this new position, as well as through my continued service on my other committees.”

Rep. Sims served as a Majority Caucus Deputy Whip for the last six years prior to being named Chairman of the Information and Audits Committee. As part of her promotion to this leadership position, her office will be moved from the Coverdell Legislative Office Building to room 401 in the Georgia State Capitol.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
