ATLANTA – State Representative Barbara Sims’ (R-Augusta) standing in the House of Representatives took a step up today as new House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) appointed Sims to the influential Appropriations Committee. He also made Representative Sims a part of his newly created Special Committee on Small Business Development and Jobs Creation.
“Georgia’s small businesses have not escaped the effects of the economic recession,” said Rep. Sims. “As a member of the Appropriations Committee and the Special Committee on Small Business Development and Job Creation, I will be in a unique position to help provide our citizens with the tools they need to see our state through these challenging times.”
Representative Sims’ also maintained her position as Secretary of State Planning and Community Affairs Committee and member of the Economic Development and Tourism; Health and Human Services; and Transportation Committees.
In addition to the new committee assignments, Representative Sims remains a Deputy Whip of the House, assisting House leadership in moving legislation on the floor.
