Rep. Brad Thomas Appointed to Georgia Technology Authority Oversight Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Brad Thomas (R-Holly Springs) was recently appointed by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the Georgia Technology Authority Oversight Committee. Rep. Thomas’ committee term will run concurrently with the 2023-2024 legislative term of the Georgia General Assembly.

“I am excited to serve in this new role to ensure our state’s technology authority is utilizing taxpayer dollars efficiently and effectively,” said Rep. Thomas. “The GTA fosters innovation and leverages technology to drive progress and meet the evolving needs of our state. I look forward to supporting the authority as it delivers essential IT infrastructure and network services to our government entities.”

The Georgia Technology Authority Oversight Committee periodically reviews the operations, contracts, financing, organization and structure of the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA). It also reviews and evaluates the success of the authority and ensuring that the authority fulfills its statutory duties and functions.

The Georgia Technology Authority currently manages the delivery of IT infrastructure services to 85 executive branch agencies and managed network services to 1,300 state and local government entities. IT infrastructure services encompass mainframes, servers, service desk, end user computing, disaster recovery and security. Fourteen agencies receive all of these services through GTA, while the remaining agencies may receive two or three of these services. Managed network services include the state’s wide and local area networks, voice, cable and wiring and conferencing services.

Representative Brad Thomas represents the citizens of District 21, which includes portions of Cherokee County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Technology & Infrastructure Innovation Committee and the Secretary of the Defense & Veterans Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Governmental Affairs, Intragovernmental Coordination, Retirement and Transportation committees.
