ATLANTA – State Representative Bubber Epps (R-Dry Branch) recently welcomed the Bleckley County High School boys cross country team to the State Capitol on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
Rep. Epps recognized the winners of the 2015 Georgia State AA Boys Cross Country Championship before the full body of the Georgia House of Representatives in the House Chamber and gave the group a tour of the Capitol.
“These young athletes and coaches made history at Bleckley County High School, and I commend them for their dedication to their sport,” said Rep. Epps. “The hard work of this cross country team is undeniable, and it was a pleasure for me to honor them before the House of Representatives for their historical win.”
The Bleckley County High School boys cross country team secured its first state championship win since the program began on November 7, 2015. This is also the first state champiRep. Epps and the Bleckley Co. HS Cross Country Teamonship for any boys’ team in any sport in Bleckley County High School history.
Representative Bubber Epps represents the citizens of District 144, which includes portions of Bibb, Bleckley, Houston, Jones, Laurens, Twiggs, and Wilkinson counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2008, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Small Business Development Committee and the Secretary of the Transportation Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources, and the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Insurance, Motor Vehicles, and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
