Rep. Cannon Appointed to Mayor’s LGBTQ Advisory Board

ATLANTA – State Representative Park Cannon (D-Atlanta) was recently appointed by Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and the City of Atlanta to serve on the Mayor’s LGBTQ Advisory Board. The board, which consists of a diverse group of leaders and advocates, will help guide the City of Atlanta’s engagement with the LGBTQ community.

“I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to Mayor Bottoms for appointing me to serve on the new Mayor’s LGBTQ Advisory Board, and I’m thrilled to work alongside such a distinguished group of individuals,” said Rep. Cannon. “As the only openly LGBTQ elected official for all of Fulton County and all of the City of Atlanta, I believe I will be able to provide a valuable and unique perspective to the advisory board. I’m confident that this advisory board will serve as a critical ally to Atlanta’s LGBTQ community, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members to foster a culture of inclusiveness and advance pro-LGBTQ policies in the City of Atlanta.”

Bottoms announced the creation of the advisory board and the Mayor’s Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion during her inaugural State of the City address on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

Representative Park Cannon represents the citizens of District 58, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves on the Code Revision, Human Relations & Aging, Insurance and Small Business Development committees.
