Rep. Cannon Selected as 2020 Georgia State Lead for National Caucus of Environmental Legislators

ATLANTA – State Representative Park Cannon (D-Atlanta) has been selected as the 2020 Georgia State Lead for the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators (NCEL). This position recognizes the leadership of Rep. Cannon within the NCEL and for promoting innovative and effective environmental policy in Georgia.

“I have been a member of NCEL for two years, and this issue area is important to me because as a millennial, I am committed to sharing timely information with my colleagues on how we can protect and preserve clean air, water and natural resources in Georgia,” said Rep. Cannon.

As an NCEL State Lead, Rep. Cannon will serve as the main point of contact in Georgia, where she will coordinate in-state engagements and assist with recruiting her colleagues in the Georgia General Assembly to join NCEL.

“State Leads are a crucial element of a thriving network like NCEL,” said Jeff Mauk, Executive Director of NCEL. “The Caucus is led by legislators, and the State Leads provide an active conduit of engagement and information that is shared with environmental state legislators across the country.”

Created by and for state legislators, the NCEL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that organizes more than 1,000 environmentally-committed state legislators from all 50 states and both parties. NCEL provides venues and opportunities for lawmakers to share ideas and collaborate on environmental issues.
