ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Garden City) will serve as a keynote speaker at a virtual conference for the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD) on Saturday, April 10, 2021.

“I am honored to join this excellent group of professionals who raise up social workers all over our country,” said Rep. Gilliard. “Social work is one of the most important fields in our society as its workforce ensures that some of our most vulnerable populations are cared for. I want to commend these educational leaders for continuing to advance social work education, especially during this unprecedented time.”

This BPD virtual conference is the premier annual event for baccalaureate social work education, and this year’s conference is hosted by the University of Alabama. The theme of this year’s conference is “Beyond 2020: The New Normal,” and the subject of Rep. Gilliard’s presentation will be “America in Crisis: where do we go from here.”
