Rep. Carl Gilliard to Serve as Keynote Speaker, Present Award for U.S. Marines Combat Logistics Regiment 45

ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Garden City) will serve as a keynote speaker and present the Georgia Outstanding Military Service Award to the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Logistics Regiment 45, commonly known as the “Landing Support Company,” on April 16, 2021.

“It is an honor to join the Landing Support Company this week,” said Rep. Gilliard. “These marines have gone above and beyond the call of duty as they have sacrificed their time to serve our local community here in Savannah away from the military base, and I am grateful for their service.”

The Landing Support Company trains and prepares as a regiment for combat operations to provide operational logistics which support a Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF). The primary day-to-day activities of this regiment supports the training and deployment of battalions.

In addition to their official marine duties, the Landing Support Company is involved in volunteer efforts across the Savannah area. The company has held fundraising events to support local events, including the Veteran’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day parades. This regiment has also conducted hundreds of funeral honors details and participated in the Toys for Tots drives during the holiday seasons. Additionally, the company assists with training competitions and demonstrations for local ROTC units.
