ATLANTA – State Representative Dar’shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia) was recently appointed by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the Georgia Technology Authority Oversight Committee. Rep. Kendrick’s committee term will run concurrently with the 2023-2024 legislative term of the Georgia General Assembly.
“I am honored to serve on this overview committee and would like to thank Speaker Burns for entrusting me with this responsibility,” said Rep. Kendrick. “I have enjoyed working on technology policy since I was first sworn into the state legislature in 2011. I look forward to working with House Technology & Infrastructure Innovation Chairman Todd Jones and Representative Brad Thomas on this important work for all Georgians.”
The Georgia Technology Authority Oversight Committee periodically reviews the operations, contracts, financing, organization and structure of the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA). It also reviews and evaluates the success of the authority and ensuring that the authority fulfills its statutory duties and functions.
The Georgia Technology Authority currently manages the delivery of IT infrastructure services to 85 executive branch agencies and managed network services to 1,300 state and local government entities. IT infrastructure services encompass mainframes, servers, service desk, end user computing, disaster recovery and security. Fourteen agencies receive all of these services through GTA, while the remaining agencies may receive two or three of these services. Managed network services include the state’s wide and local area networks, voice, cable and wiring and conferencing services.
Representative Dar’shun Kendrick represents the citizens of District 95, which includes portions of DeKalb, Gwinnett and Rockdale counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves on the Interstate Cooperation, Judiciary Non-Civil, Juvenile Justice, Small Business Development and Technology and Infrastructure Innovation committees.
