Rep. Dewayne Hill Named Vice Chairman of Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government

ATLANTA – State Representative Dewayne Hill (R-Ringgold) was recently appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as the vice chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government for the remainder of the 2019-2020 legislative term.

“It will be my honor to serve on the Appropriations Committee, which will enable me to better serve the people of my district more effectively,” said Rep. Hill.

Rep. Hill was appointed by Speaker Ralston to help efficiently and effectively lead the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government ahead of the 2020 legislative session. Under the authority of the House Appropriations Committee, this subcommittee will specifically consider portions of the state budget that impact various state agencies, such as the Department of Revenue, Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Driver Services.

The House Appropriations Committee is comprised of eight subcommittees that are tasked with drafting the state’s amended and general fiscal year budgets for Georgia’s state agencies and departments. The committee also hears legislation that has considerable impact on the state revenue or expenditures.

Representative Dewayne Hill represents the citizens of District 3, which includes the northern most part of Catoosa County. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. He serves as a member on the Education, Human Relations & Aging, Industry and Labor, Interstate Cooperation, Intragovernmental Coordination and Retirement committees. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Economic Development & Tourism Subcommittee on International Trade and Commerce.
