Rep. Doreen Carter Named Georgia Association of Educators’ Legislator of the Year

ATLANTA – State Representative Doreen Carter (D-Lithonia) was recently named by the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) as its 2022 Legislator of the Year.

“My mother was a teacher’s aide, and she taught me at a young age to do what is right – not just for those who are close to you, but also for your neighbors, your community and those you’ve been entrusted to look after,” said Rep. Carter. “Our educators have been the target of political turmoil, especially this last legislative session, but they’ve remained dedicated to students through it all. Their dedication continues to carry me through as I fight to do what is right for teachers, students and our public education system.”

The Georgia Association of Educators is a professional organization for teachers, administrators and educational support professionals within Georgia’s public schools. The GAE represents members within the state legislature and state agencies on educational issues, convenes coalitions to support public education, supports the rights of educators, as well as provides an extensive benefits package for its membership. It is an affiliate of the National Education Association.
