Rep. Doreen Carter Sworn in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2023-2024 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Doreen Carter (D-Lithonia) was sworn in for her fifth term in the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2023, which was the first day of the 2023-2024 legislative term. Additionally, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments recently named Rep. Carter to the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Code Revision, Education, Industry and Labor, Small Business Development and Special Rules committees. 

“As I begin my fifth term as a state legislator, I am still humbled and grateful to work on behalf of my district in the hallowed halls of the state Capitol,” said Rep. Carter. “I am honored to have been appointed to so many important committees that oversee bills that have a direct impact on the residents in House District 93, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in each committee to ensure only the best policies move forward in the legislative process.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Doreen Carter represents the citizens of District 93, which includes portions of DeKalb, Newton and Rockdale counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015 and currently serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Code Revision, Education, Industry and Labor, Small Business Development and Special Rules committees.
