Rep. Farooq Mughal Issues Statement on House Resolution 4EX

ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) issued the following statement regarding House Resolution 4EX, which was adopted on Monday, December 4, 2023, and condemns Hamas terrorism and expresses support for the Jewish people:

“I condemn Hamas and all other terrorist organizations trying to harm Americans. As I have stated on social media, Hamas is a designated terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. I am saddened and condemn all violence against civilians, Israeli or Palestinian. Violence will not solve our problems or lead to peace. Even though foreign policy is out of my purview, this issue has reverberated throughout Georgia. I care about the well-being of our constituents no matter race, ethnicity and/or religion. There has been a spike in antisemitism, islamophobia and anti-Palestinian discrimination, and I condemn this. In the face of such hate, we should come together with our shared humanity instead of keeping ourselves divided and filled with hatred. It is important to keep in mind the actions of Israel do not reflect all Jews, and the actions of Hamas do not reflect all Palestinians and/or Muslims. I sincerely hope we can come together to condemn bigotry and violence no matter where it comes from.”

Representative Farooq Mughal represents the citizens of District 105, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
