Rep. Farooq Mughal Sworn in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2023-2024 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2023, marking his first day of the 2023-2024 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 157th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.

“I am honored to be selected as a member of the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees,” said Rep. Mughal.  “I am grateful to Speaker Jon Burns and Minority Leader James Beverly for allowing me to serve in this key role as we enter a new era of leadership in the Georgia House of Representatives.”

In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Mughal to the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees. 

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives. 

Representative Farooq Mughal represents the citizens of District 105, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
