Rep. Gerald Greene Named Chairman of House Code Revision Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Gerald Greene (R-Cuthbert) as the Chairman of the House Code Revision Committee.  Rep. Greene currently serves as a member of the Appropriations Subcommittees on Economic Development and Public Safety, and the Economic Development & Tourism, Public Safety & Homeland Security, Retirement, and Rules committees, as well as the Secretary of the State Properties Committee.

“I would first like to thank Speaker Ralston and the members of the Committee on Assignments for this honor,” said Rep. Greene. “The Code Revision Committee plays an important role in overseeing the technical revisions of Georgia’s Official Code, and I am proud to serve as its Chairman.”

“Gerald is a leader among his colleagues in the legislature on issues of importance to southwest Georgia,” said Speaker Pro-Tem, Jan Jones. “As a chairman, he will have even more influence to make sure his constituents are at the table when decisions are made.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Gerald Greene represents the citizens of District 151, which includes Calhoun, Clay, Early, Quitman, Randolph, Stewart, Terrell, and Webster counties, as well as portions of Dougherty County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 1982, and serves as the Chairman of the Code Revision Committee, and as the Secretary of the State Properties Committee. He is also a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety, Economic Development & Tourism, Public Safety & Homeland Security, Retirement, and Rules committees.
